Your Freeway Security Is Simple to Set Up and Maintain

Every crypto rewards platform, exchange and wallet needs security settings to protect your assets. Freeway is no different.

The Freeway security preferences and settings are easy to set up, once you find them. This article details what to set up, where to locate them, and how to do it.

Setting Up Your Freeway Security

To reach the security preferences and settings, hover on your initials on the green circle in the top right corner of any Freeway page. It’s located just to the right of the shopping cart button.

Freeway Account Information buttonHover over Account Information and the button turns green. Click on it to view your Freeway security preferences and settings.

Click on Account Information.

On the Account Information page, scroll down until you can see all the Security Preferences and Security Settings.

The Freeway Security Preferences and Security Settings options. Indicate when you want to receive a login notification email. Change your password, or reset your 2-factor authentication.

Security Preferences

You can have Freeway email you every time you log in to your account. Or you can receive an email only when your IP address changes or you switch to a different computer, tablet or phone.

If you want to change the preference, click on the button next to your desired preference, then click Update.

If you check your account as often as I do (to review earnings and referrals, and to take screenshots for articles), you’ll want to set it to only receive the email when your IP address changes or you use a different device.

Password

If you want to change your password (something you should do every few months), enter your current password. Then enter your new password in both fields.

If you want to see the characters to ensure you type the same ones both times, click on the eye icon with the \ through it.

If you’re changing your password in a public place, such as a coffee shop, I recommend that you not display the characters.

Also, if the wifi you’re using isn’t secure, connect to Freeway via a VPN before doing anything with your account, including logging in. I recommend ProtonVPN. If you decide to buy it, be sure to select USD if you live in the U.S.

How do you know if the wifi isn’t secure. If you don’t have to supply a password, it’s not secure.

Click Update to save the new password.

2 Factor Authentication

When you set up your account, Freeway required you to add two-factor authentication (2FA) as extra protection for your account.

If you need to reset your 2FA, click on Reset 2FA. A small overlay will display, asking you if you’re sure you want to reset your 2FA.

If you still want to proceed, click the green Reset Now button.

Freeway will walk you through the rest of the process.

2FA on the Login Page

You may have noticed that the login page has an option to turn off 2FA for 30 days. I only recommend you do that if your computer or other device never leaves your house or apartment.

If you have your Supercharger notice period set to 0 days, it’s essential that you leave the 2FA turned on all the time.

This will prevent someone from logging in to your account, then selling some of your assets and sending them to a wallet address that you don’t control.

So don’t turn 2FA off on the login page unless you’re 100% certain there’s no risk to your Freeway account.
